All Saints’ weekend Nov. 2-4

Dear Friends in Christ,

The first week in November contains All Saints’ Day (Nov. 1), Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed [or All Souls’ Day] (Nov. 2), and All Saints’ Sunday (Nov. 4).

Along with Pascha, the Day of Pentecost and The Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, this is one of the four great festivals of the liturgical year.

This special time, in which we commemorate our communal unity with “all those who rejoice with us, but upon another shore and in a greater light, that multitude which no one can number, whose hope was in the Word made flesh, and with whom, in this Lord Jesus, we forevermore are one,” is a time for our entire faith community to gather in liturgy, prayer and celebration.

We will observe the Feast of All the Saints with the following events:

Friday, Nov. 2   (8:00 pm) All Souls’ Requiem
Sign-up sheets for the names of those to be commemorated at this liturgy are located on the Undercroft bulletin board. The deadline for listing names is Tuesday, October 30th.

You are welcome to bring small pictures or mementos of those you are commemorating to place around the altar at this liturgy. It would be much appreciated if you would have these items here between 7:30 – 7:45 pm.

Saturday, Nov 3 (9:00 am) Work Party
A task list and sign- up sheet for the work party are located on the Undercroft bulletin board. The work party ends at noon.

(6:00 pm) Potluck Supper
Instructions about what to bring and a sign-up sheet are located on the Undercroft bulletin Board.

(7:30 pm) Evening Prayer & Exposition (with hymns)

Sunday, Nov. 4  (10:30 am) Holy Baptism & Holy Eucharist
At this liturgy, we will be welcoming Hazel Miriam Close into the Body of Christ and Communion of Saints.

Please note there is only one liturgy (10:30 am) on this day.

I’m looking forward to being with you as we proclaim the mystery that we are all part  of the Communion of Saints, the living and the dead, bound together in the Resurrection Life of Jesus Christ.

Peace, Love & Joy,

John+
