Holy silence for the holiday season

Saturday evenings at 5:00, Nov 28, Dec 5, Dec 12, and Dec 19.

Take a much-needed break from holiday busyness and refresh your spirit with these quiet, meditative, candlelit services at Church of the Redeemer. Watch and Pray includes vocal and instrumental music, readings from scripture and poetry, and 10 minutes of silent contemplation.

The November 28th service will feature baritone Glenn Guhr, who will sing a setting of “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus” by Jean Philippe Rameau. The evening’s theme is drawn from the hymn “O heavenly Word, Eternal Light”:

O heavenly Word, Eternal Light,
Begotten of the Father’s Might,
Who in these latter days art born
For succour to a world forlorn.

Our hearts enlighten from above,
And kindle with Thine own true love,
That we, who hear Thy call today,
May cast earth’s vanities away.
