Holy silence for the holiday season

Saturday evenings at 5:00, Nov 28, Dec 5, Dec 12, and Dec 19.

Take a much-needed break from holiday busyness and refresh your spirit with these quiet, meditative, candlelit services at Church of the Redeemer. Watch and Pray includes vocal and instrumental music, readings from scripture and poetry, and 10 minutes of silent contemplation.

This evening, we will meditate on themes inspired by the French Advent hymn “O Come, Divine Messiah”. Guest soprano Erica Row will sing “Come unto Him, all ye that labor” from Handel’s Messiah. Sharon Grabner will play “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” on the hammered dulcimer, and violinist Laurie Kempen will perform music of Corelli.

You are invited to stay and enjoy the artist reception for the gallery show “Signs and Portents” afterward.

Dear Savior, haste! Come, come to earth.
Dispel the night and show your face,
And bid us hail the dawn of grace.
O come, Divine Messiah,
The world in silence waits the day
When hope shall sing its triumph,
And sadness flee away.
