Last year, nearly 40 Episcopalians from local congregations joined our bishops to show our solidarity with those in need. We had such a good time we’ve decided to do it again. From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, the Diocese of Olympia will gather together to take part in the Diocesan Day of Volunteering at the Northwest Harvest Kent Warehouse. We need all hands on deck for this day as we help our neighbors who are most in need.

Children as young as 8 years old are welcome to come and work as well. Please bring a brown bag lunch so we can picnic together as we break at noon. Guess the number of cans on a pallet and win a prize! Tour the new 94,000 square-foot warehouse.

To R.S.V.P. to this event, send an e-mail A.S.A.P. to Heather Kmitta, hkmitta@ecww.org, or call 206-325-4200/800-488-4978. If you have additional questions or want to volunteer another day, contact Matthew Campbell, Cherry Street Food Bank Manager at 206-625-0755, Matthewc@northwestharvest.org. Please come out for a day with your fellow Episcopalians as we work to help feed Western Washington. In 2009, Northwest Harvest secured over 24 million pounds of food for distribution to more than 300 food banks, hot meal programs and elementary schools across Washington. Its no-fee policy enables partners to do more with their own limited resources, providing a combined 600,000 food services in their communities each month.
