What is the Foot Washing Station?
An area for CRE attendees to sit, take off their shoes and socks, and soak their feet in warm, clean water. A volunteer washes and dries their feet. They can select a pair of new socks to put on and take an extra pair with them. Many are standing or walking much of the day and the opportunity to care for sore feet is very welcome. During the foot washing, participants often relax, chat with the volunteers or others around them, and sometimes share their stories and challenges.
The foot washing station provides water and socks, but also a moment of respectful, quiet companionship.
