Artwork for Lent

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

The arts committee created an altarpiece and wall hangings for Lent. Look!

Angela talks about the pieces here, on her blog, and has some more photos. It’s a shame that it’s so hard to get good pictures of our altarpieces, because this one is really evocative and affecting. I guess you’ll just have to drop by sometime and see it for yourself.  :-)

Stations in Episcopal Life

Monday, February 19th, 2007

With our own Stations of the Cross art show drawing near, I was excited to see an article in the Art & Soul section of this month’s Episcopal Life about Kathrin Burleson’s The Way of the Cross, commissioned and created for a church in Trinidad, California. Her site also includes a wonderful essay on a mystical approach to the Stations of the Cross.

To see more interpretations of the Stations, you can visit these articles from Episcopal Life’s archives:

Upgraded to WordPress 2.1 (”Ella”)

Monday, February 19th, 2007

Let’s see…sidebar’s still there…plugins are working…I can post entries…

Looks like we’ve successfully upgraded the Arts and Music Blog to the latest and greatest (we hope) version of WordPress. Boom! as Steve Jobs might say.

I don’t see this new “tabbed editor” they describe that allows us to switch between WYSIWYG and code editing when writing a post, but maybe it’s just me.

(UPDATE: I checked the support forums and got the fix. Under your user profile in wp-admin, in Personal Options, make sure there’s a check in the box that says “Use the visual editor when writing”. This enables the “Visual” and “Code” tabs. I really wish this were checked by default. How would the averege user know to do this? It would be better to let the more experienced users turn it off if they wanted.)
