Free the Comments!

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

I could have sworn that, months ago, I opened up comments on this blog to all comers without requiring that they register first and that their comments be moderated. I just rechecked those settings and discovered that comments were still locked down. Weird.

So I’ve opened ‘em up! We invite your insights, questions, and suggestions, and I apologize for making you jump through hoops to do so before.

It seemed at the time that setting up a blog about arts and Christianity was like hanging out a sign that read, “HELLO, ANGRY INTERNET RESIDENTS! COME TELL US THAT WE’RE DELUDED/HELLBOUND.” We wanted to avoid that, but the unintended result was that we shut out any sort of interaction with our readers. So we’ll deal with the angry people if and when they ever show up - we want to hear from all of you good, kind, and thoughtful people.

Thanks,
Wade

Opening reception for Speaking in Tongues: The Spirit Unleashed

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

We’ve posted photos of the opening on Flickr. It was a great opening - a lot of people came, the music was fantastic, and everyone had a good time.

There were some really intriguing discussions going on about the role that art could play in the spiritual life of the entire diocese of Olympia. We’ll post more about that as things develop, but it sounds as if there will be some exciting times ahead.

The Spirit Unleashed: art is up and we’re ready for the opening!

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

When J.P. and Gwyn’s wedding was over on Saturday, Angela, Debi, and I crept back into the nave and hung the artwork for Speaking in Tongues: The Spirit Unleashed.

The pieces look great together. I think this is a really strong show.

Don’t forget, the opening reception is Thursday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM. Music’s from 7 to 7:30.
