If it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs\, faith is null and the promise is void. For the law brings wrath; but where there is no law\, neither is there violation. For this reason it depends on faith\, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his descendants\, not only to the adherents of the law but also to those who share the faith of Abraham (for he is the father of all of us\, as it is written\, “I have made you the father of many nations”)—in the presence of the God in whom he believed\, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. Hoping against hope\, he believed that he would become “the father of many nations\,” according to what was said\, “So numerous shall your descendants be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body\, which was already as good as dead (for he was about a hundred years old)\, or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God\, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God\, being fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. Therefore his faith “was reckoned to him as righteousness.” Now the words\, “it was reckoned to him\,” were written not for his sake alone\, but for ours also. It will be reckoned to us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead\, who was handed over to death for our trespasses and was raised for our justification. \n\n\n\nMark 8:31-38 (NRSV)\n\n\n\nJesus began to teach his disciples that the Son of Man must undergo great suffering\, and be rejected by the elders\, the chief priests\, and the scribes\, and be killed\, and after three days rise again. DESCRIPTION:Our neighbors staying at Mary’s Place in Kenmore need personal hygiene items. Can you provide new and unused items such as the following? \n\n\n\n\nSoap\n\n\n\nShampoo\n\n\n\nDeodorant\n\n\n\nBaby diapers\n\n\n\nFeminine hygiene products \n\n\n\n\nPlease bring personal hygiene items to the Outreach Drop Box located next to the Baptistry on the main floor of the church building. \n\n\n\nMary’s Place\n\n\n\nMary’s Place is a non-profit organization offering housing to un-housed families and assistance in moving into more stable situations.  \n\n\n\nMary’s Place family shelter programs: \n\n\n\n\nGuest Services. Mary’s place offers these wraparound services to our guests in our family shelter. Many are also provided to unsheltered families through our outreach team.\n\nHealth Services. Under the direction of our Health Services Clinical Director\, and with help from part-time nurses\, behavior health specialists\, and several health professional volunteers\, Mary’s Place connects families to medical supports and service providers\, and provides assessment and treatment for more than 1\,000 medical conditions each year\,\n\n\n\nBaby’s Best Start. Allows moms with newborns to bond and recover after giving birth in a private\, nurturing setting that keeps babies healthy and off to their best start!\n\n\n\nPopsicle Place. Provides comfort and care in a more private setting for medically-fragile children and their families\, many of whom are recovering from chemo\, dialysis\, and other treatments while living in their cars outside hospitals.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHousing and Stability\n\nHousing Specialists\, Housing Specialists work with unsheltered families and families in shelter to help them develop and meet financial and housing goals and quickly transition into permanent housing.\n\n\n\nHousing Locators. The Housing Locators at Mary’s Place family shelters work with landlords\, property managers\, and housing providers to build relationships and identify affordable housing solutions for our families.\n\n\n\nOutreach Team. Our Mobile Outreach team works with families who are currently unsheltered and living in cars and tents.\n\n\n\nKids Club. The Mary’s Place Youth Services program offers programming to meet the social and developmental needs of our shelter guests between the ages of 0-18.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRead more information on programs provided by Mary’s Place.

We have masks available for you\, if you want. \n\n\n\nEucharist\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood\, and the principal act of Christian worship. The term is from the Greek\, “thanksgiving.” \n\n\n\nJesus instituted the Eucharist “on the night when he was betrayed.” At the Last Supper he shared the bread and cup of wine at a sacred meal with his disciples. He identified the bread with his body and the wine with his blood of the new covenant. Jesus commanded his disciples to “do this” in remembrance of him (see 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Mark 14:22-25; Matthew 26:26-29; Luke 22:14-20). \n\n\n\nChrist’s sacrifice is made present by the Eucharist\, and in it we are united to his one self-offering (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 859). The Last Supper provides the basis for the fourfold Eucharistic action of taking\, blessing\, breaking\, and sharing. Christ’s body and blood are really present in the sacrament of the Eucharist and received by faith. Christ’s presence is also known in the gathered eucharistic community. \n\n\n\nIn the Book of Common Prayer\, the whole service is entitled the Holy Eucharist. \n\n\n\n\nThe first part of the service is designated the Word of God. It usually includes the entrance rite\, the lessons and gradual psalm\, the gospel\, the sermon\, the Nicene Creed\, the Prayers of the People\, the confession of sin and absolution\, and the Peace.\n\n\n\nThe second portion of the service is designated the Holy Communion. It includes the offertory\, the consecration of the bread and wine in the Great Thanksgiving\, the communion of the people\, and the concluding prayers of thanksgiving and dismissal. SUMMARY:Children's Education during Lent
DESCRIPTION:The Rev. Theresa Newell is leading children’s Christian education during Lent at 9:30 am in the Children’s Education room downstairs\, off the parish hall. During this season\, children can dive deeper into the Sunday readings to think about how God might be speaking to them in and  through the world around them.  \n\n\n\nIf you have elementary-aged children\, bring them to children’s education at Church of the Redeemer. It is free. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe are always looking for members of the parish to assist with Children’s Education. If you feel that you are called to this ministry as a part of your baptismal promises\, please speak to the Rev. Jed Fox or Rev. Theresa Newell to find out more.

He identified the bread with his body and the wine with his blood of the new covenant. Jesus commanded his disciples to “do this” in remembrance of him (see 1 Cor 11:23-26; Mk 14:22-25; Mt 26:26-29; Lk 22:14-20). \n\n\n\nChrist’s sacrifice is made present by the Eucharist\, and in it we are united to his one self-offering (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 859). The Last Supper provides the basis for the fourfold Eucharistic action of taking\, blessing\, breaking\, and sharing. Christ’s body and blood are really present in the sacrament of the Eucharist and received by faith. Christ’s presence is also known in the gathered eucharistic community. \n\n\n\nIn the Book of Common Prayer\, the whole service is entitled the Holy Eucharist. \n\n\n\n\nThe first part of the service is designated the Word of God. It usually includes the entrance rite\, the lessons and gradual psalm\, the gospel\, the sermon\, the Nicene Creed\, the Prayers of the People\, the confession of sin and absolution\, and the Peace.\n\n\n\nThe second portion of the service is designated the Holy Communion. It includes the offertory\, the consecration of the bread and wine in the Great Thanksgiving\, the communion of the people\, and the concluding prayers of thanksgiving and dismissal. A blessing may be given prior to the dismissal.\n\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is also called the Lord’s Supper\, Holy Communion\, the Divine Liturgy\, the Mass\, and the Great Offertory (BCP\, p. 859). \n\n\n\nThe Hymnal 1982 includes a section with a variety of hymns for the Holy Eucharist (Numbers 300 through 347)\, including “Come\, risen Lord\, and deign to be our guest” (305 and 306)\, “My God\, thy table now is spread” (321)\, “Now\, my tongue\, the mystery telling” (329 through 331)\, and “I am the bread of life” (335). \n\n\n\n(Above taken from Eucharist .)
