SUMMARY:Discovery Camp 3/International Odyssey/Horse Camp 3
DESCRIPTION:This is for campers from Grades 3 to Grade 10. \n\n\n\nWe spend a lot of time in Discovery Groups\, which consist of two cabins of similarly-aged campers\, their counselors\, and a Discovery Group Leader. Every group is unique and has an identity all its own. There will be games\, songs\, hikes\, team-building activities\, camp outs\, archery\, swimming\, crafts\, and a time for reflection at the end of each day. \n\n\n\nOutside of our Discovery Groups\, the whole community joins for meals in Curtis Lodge\, as well a campfire\, a variety show\, and a dance during the week. \n\n\n\nAn Episcopal priest from the Diocese of Olympia joins us every session to provide counsel and participate in program activities.  They also help Discovery Groups plan chapel for each night. We hope that you’ll make friends\, experience nature and have fun! \n\n\n\nRules for acceptance and participation are the same for everyone regardless of race\, color\, religion (creed)\, sex\, gender expression (identity)\, national origin (ancestry)\, or sexual orientation. \n\n\n\n\nRegister for summer camp.\n\n\n\n\nLet’s talk about Camp Huston!\n\n\n\nCamp Huston is an Episcopal summer camp and conference center in the Cascade foothills\, about an hour east of Seattle\, WA. \n\n\n\nOur conference center facilities are available to rent for religious\, non-profit\, and educational groups for conferences\, retreats\, and events. Camp Huston runs our own programs year round\, including summer camp\, family camp and craft retreats. \n\n\n\nEveryone has different things that draw them to Camp Huston. If you’re a conference guest\, our meeting spaces are cozy and welcoming\, while our summer campers love our outdoor heated pool. Summer camp parents leave outstanding reviews of our program and their campers often return as staff. Teri\, our Kitchen Manager\, is ready to accommodate most dietary needs\, which makes our meals a highlight for any and all who attend Camp Huston! \n\n\n\nCamp Huston is a part of the missionary outreach program of the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia and our summer camp program is accredited by the American Camp Association. We love what we do\, and we hope to see you at camp sometime soon! \n\n\n\nRead more about the summer camping program at Camp Houston.

SUMMARY:The Transfiguration of Our Lord Jesus Christ
DESCRIPTION:Lessons appointed for use for this day from the Revised Common Lectionary (Episcopal version). \n\n\n\nExodus 34:29-35 (NRSV)\n\n\n\nMoses came down from Mount Sinai. As he came down from the mountain with the two tablets of the covenant in his hand\, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses\, the skin of his face was shining\, and they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called to them; and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him\, and Moses spoke with them. Afterward all the Israelites came near\, and he gave them in commandment all that the Lord had spoken with him on Mount Sinai. When Moses had finished speaking with them\, he put a veil on his face; but whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him\, he would take the veil off\, until he came out; and when he came out\, and told the Israelites what he had been commanded\, the Israelites would see the face of Moses\, that the skin of his face was shining; and Moses would put the veil on his face again\, until he went in to speak with him. \n\n\n\nPsalm 99 or 99:5-9 (BCP)\n\n\n\nDominus regnavit \n\n\n\n[The Lord is King; let the people tremble; *    he is enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth shake. The Lord is great in Zion; *    he is high above all peoples.Let them confess his Name\, which is great and awesome; *    he is the Holy One.“O mighty King\, lover of justice\, you have established equity; *    you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.”]Proclaim the greatness of the Lord our God and fall down before his footstool; *    he is the Holy One.Moses and Aaron among his priests\, and Samuel among those who call upon his Name\, *    they called upon the Lord\, and he answered them.He spoke to them out of the pillar of cloud; *    they kept his testimonies and the decree that he gave them.O Lord our God\, you answered them indeed; *    you were a God who forgave them\, yet punished them for their evil deeds.Proclaim the greatness of the Lord our God and worship him upon his holy hill; *    for the Lord our God is the Holy One. \n\n\n\n2 Peter 1:13-21 (NRSV)\n\n\n\nI think it right\, as long as I am in this body\, to refresh your memory\, since I know that my death will come soon\, as indeed our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things. For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ\, but we had been eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when that voice was conveyed to him by the Majestic Glory\, saying\, “This is my Son\, my Beloved\, with whom I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice come from heaven\, while we were with him on the holy mountain. So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place\, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. First of all you must understand this\, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation\, because no prophecy ever came by human will\, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. \n\n\n\nLuke 9:28-36 (NRSV)\n\n\n\nJesus took with him Peter and John and James\, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying\, the appearance of his face changed\, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly they saw two men\, Moses and Elijah\, talking to him. They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure\, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake\, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. Just as they were leaving him\, Peter said to Jesus\, “Master\, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings\, one for you\, one for Moses\, and one for Elijah” —not knowing what he said. While he was saying this\, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud came a voice that said\, “This is my Son\, my Chosen; listen to him!” When the voice had spoken\, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChurch of the Redeemer\n\n\n\nWelcome to Church of the Redeemer: Worshiping God\, living in community\, and reaching out to the world. We are an Episcopal Church serving north King County and south Snohomish County\, Washington. As you travel your road\, go with friends walking the way of Jesus at Redeemer. \n\n\n\nChurch of the Redeemer is at 6220 Northeast 181st Street in Kenmore\, Washington. We are a short distance north of Bothell Way\, near the Burke-Gilman Trail. The entrance looks like a gravel driveway. The campus is larger on the inside than it is on the outside. And we managed to hide a large building on the side of a hill that is not easily seen from the street. \n\n\n\nThe Episcopal Church welcomes you. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Old Testament\, New Testament and Gospel readings are from the New Revised Standard Version Bible: Anglicized Edition\, copyright 1989\, 1995\, Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America.
