SUMMARY:Funeral for John Earley
DESCRIPTION:The Earley Family welcomes your attendance at the funeral of John Earley to be held on Saturday\, September 21\, 2024\, at 2:00 pm.  \n\n\n\nJohn was a well loved\, long time member of Church of the Redeemer. Passing away earlier this year\, he dedicated many years of service to our Parish. Read about the Earley Outreach Fund and Butterfly Shop.  \n\n\n\nPlease mark you calendars and watch this space for more information as it becomes available. \n\n\n\nMay he rest in peace. \n\n\n\nBurial of the Dead\n\n\n\nThis is the funeral rite for burial of a baptized Christian. It includes these elements: \n\n\n\n\nAnthems\n\n\n\nPsalms\n\n\n\nScripture readings\n\n\n\nPrayers \n\n\n\n\nThe Book of Common Prayer provides traditional and contemporary liturgies. \n\n\n\nThis rite may serve as the liturgy of the word at a Requiem Eucharist (when there is communion at the Burial of the Dead). The commendation and the committal of the remains follow the communion of the people and the postcommunion prayer. \n\n\n\nThe burial rites in the Book of Common Prayer also include the following: \n\n\n\n\nApostles’ Creed.\n\n\n\nA special form of the prayers of the people.\n\n\n\nForms for the consecration of the grave.\n\n\n\nAdditional prayers that may be added after the Lord’s Prayer. \n\n\n\n\nThe Book of Common Prayer also provides an Order for Burial. This service permits the composition of a rite to suit particular circumstances “when\, for pastoral considerations\, neither of the burial rites in this Book is deemed appropriate.” \n\n\n\nThe Book of Occasional Services provides appropriate texts for the burial of a person who was not a baptized Christian or who rejected the Christian faith. \n\n\n\nThe burial office is an Easter liturgy. The liturgical color is appropriately white. The Paschal candle should be lighted as a visible reminder of Jesus’ resurrection and our hope of life everlasting in Christ. \n\n\n\nAt the Burial of the Dead\, those who mourn may express grief and sorrow as they share in the community’s expression of faith\, hope\, and mutual support in Jesus Christ. \n\n\n\n(Taken from Burial of the Dead.)

SUMMARY:Cocaine Annonimous District 3 Unity Event
DESCRIPTION:Church of the Redeemer rents space to Cocaine Anonymous for this event. Please contact Cocaine Anonymous for more information. In the spirit of Tradition Six\, C.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nAbout C.A.\n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous is a Fellowship of men and women who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from their addiction. \n\n\n\nThe best way to reach someone is to speak to them on a common level. The members of C.A. are all recovering addicts who maintain their individual sobriety by working with others. We come from various social\, ethnic\, economic and religious backgrounds\, but what we have in common is addiction. \n\n\n\nThe only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. \n\n\n\nAnyone who wants to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances (including alcohol and other drugs) is welcome. \n\n\n\nThere are no dues or fees for membership; we are fully self-supporting through our own contributions. \n\n\n\nWe do ask for voluntary contributions at meetings to cover expenses such as coffee\, rent\, literature and services to help those who are still suffering. However\, newcomers need not feel obligated to contribute. We do not accept donations from organizations or individuals outside the Fellowship. \n\n\n\nWe are not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nIn order to maintain our integrity and avoid any possible complications\, we are not affiliated with any outside organization. Although C.A. is a spiritual program\, we do not align ourselves with any religion. Our members are free to define their spirituality as they see fit. Our individual members may have opinions of their own\, but C.A. as a whole has no opinion on outside issues. We are not affiliated with any rehabs\, recovery houses or hospitals\, but many do refer their patients to Cocaine Anonymous to maintain their sobriety. \n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay free from cocaine and all other mind-altering substances and to help others achieve the same freedom. \n\n\n\nThe only purpose of Cocaine Anonymous is to offer recovery to individuals who are suffering from addiction. Our experience has shown that the most effective way to attain and maintain sobriety is to work with others suffering from the same malady. \n\n\n\nWe use the Twelve-Step recovery program because it has already been proven that the Twelve-Step recovery program works. \n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous\n\n\n\nWelcome to Cocaine Anonymous . We are all here for the same reason—our inability to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. The first step towards solving any problem is admitting that there is a problem. \n\n\n\nThe problem\, as we see it\, consists of an obsession of the mind and an allergy of the body. The obsession is a continued and irresistible thought of the drugs and the next high. The allergy creates an absolute inability to stop using once we begin. \n\n\n\nWe wish to assure you that there is a solution and that recovery is possible. It begins with abstinence and continues with practicing the Twelve Steps of recovery\, one day at a time. Our program\, the Twelve Steps of Cocaine Anonymous\, is the means by which we move from the problem of addiction to the solution of recovery.
