SUMMARY:Contemplative Weekend for Young Adults–2025
DESCRIPTION:Experience peace\, prayer and self-care with young adults from across the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia during a contemplative retreat. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a very casual weekend retreat designed for re-centering and renewal. Adults in their 20s & 30s from around Western Washington are invited to Rainbow Lodge\, just east of Seattle and at the foot of Mount Si\, to experience the beauty of this natural setting and a wide array of contemplative practices in community. \n\n\n\nThough only 35 miles from downtown Seattle (via I-90)\, the retreat center is located in a peaceful\, natural setting of 40 secluded acres of woods. \n\n\n\nWhat this “Holy Quiet” retreat offers\n\n\n\n\nA selection of various forms of contemplative practices.\n\n\n\nAn opportunity to go inward\, to cultivate a more intimate relationship with God and self.\n\n\n\nAn invitation to slow down\, pause.\n\n\n\nA shift away from a word-centric practice to discover/remember the wisdom of silence and the “still\, small voice” of God.\n\n\n\nAn opportunity to be in community with other seekers.\n\n\n\nA time to try something different\, to experiment with new practices that have the potential to deepen faith in unexpected ways and complement a more traditional practice.\n\n\n\nOptional one-on-one spiritual direction from Episcopal priests.\n\n\n\n\nFeedback from past years’ contemplative retreats\n\n\n\n“My favorite part was definitely singing Taizé services together! I was really able to enter into the contemplative space and it was a beautiful group worship experience. I also really enjoyed the holy hike!” \n\n\n\n“Favorite parts of the retreat? …Meeting people\, good things for my body\, mind\, and spirit\, like balanced meals\, restful sleep\, prayer of many types.” \n\n\n\n“The setting was fabulous — I truly enjoyed the Taizé and singing services led by the music team.” \n\n\n\nCome for the weekend or just for a day\n\n\n\nFor $125\, you receive the following: \n\n\n\n\nTwo nights’ accommodations in a private room (single and double occupancy available) with private sink but shared bath\n\n\n\n6 meals \n\nFriday dinner\n\n\n\nSaturday breakfast\, lunch\, and dinner\n\n\n\nSunday breakfast and lunch)\n\n\n\n\n\nAll content and resource materials.\n\n\n\n\nScholarships and sliding scale available. SUMMARY:Alcoholics Anonymous: Kenmore Friday Nighters
DESCRIPTION:Church of the Redeemer rents space to Alcoholics Anonymous for this meeting. Please contact Alcoholics Anonymous for more information. A.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nWhat is Alcoholics Anonymous?\n\n\n\nAlcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. \n\n\n\nThe only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy\, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. \n\n\n\nWhat A.A. does do: \n\n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.\n\n\n\nA.A. members share their experience with anyone seeking help with a drinking problem; they give person-to-person service or “sponsorship” to the alcoholic coming to A.A. from any source.\n\n\n\nThe A.A. program\, set forth in our Twelve Steps\, offers the alcoholic a way to develop a satisfying life without alcohol.\n\n\n\n\nThis program is discussed at A.A. group meetings. \n\n\n\n\nOpen speaker meetings — open to alcoholics and nonalcoholics. (Attendance at an open A.A. meeting is the best way to learn what A.A. is\, what it does\, and what it does not do.) At speaker meetings\, A.A. members “tell their stories.” They describe their experiences with alcohol\, how they came to A.A.\, and how their lives have changed as a result of Alcoholics Anonymous.\n\n\n\nOpen discussion meetings — one member speaks briefly about his or her drinking experience\, and then leads a discussion on A.A. recovery or any drinking-related problem anyone brings up. (Closed meetings are for A.A.s or anyone who may have a drinking problem.)\n\n\n\nClosed discussion meetings — conducted just as open discussions are\, but for alcoholics or prospective A.A.s only.\n\n\n\nStep meetings (usually closed) — discussion of one of the Twelve Steps.
