SUMMARY:Seasonal giving for those experiencing housing insecurity
DESCRIPTION:Every year for more than 30 years\, Church of the Redeemer has provided help during this time of year to the 11 families living at Hopelink Kenmore Place. There are a few different ways you can help. \n\n\n\nThank you for the help you provide these families. Reach out to Michelle Henderson with any questions at hkp@redeemer-kenmore.org. \n\n\n\nWe need your help to assist those facing housing insecurity. There are two ways to help. Can you help us help others? \n\n\n\nMoney to buy food gift cards\n\n\n\nEach family receives a $100 gift card for food at Thanksgiving and a second $100 gift card in December. This means we need to collect $2200 for 22 cards by December 17. \n\n\n\n\nDonate money to Hopelink Kenmore Place outreach\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChurch of the Redeemer provides support to Hopelink Kenmore Place throughout the year. Any extra money raised for food gift cards at this time will go to other support for those at Kenmore Place. \n\n\n\nPurchase a welcome gift for a child or teen\n\n\n\nWhen a child or teen moves with their family into Hopelink Kenmore Place\, they may have anxiety. To help them feel welcome\, they are offered a gift that they choose. This can bring some comfort during a time of stress and change. \n\n\n\nWe collect these welcome gifts at Redeemer now to be offered year-round. (These are not holiday gifts.) We bring them to the Kenmore Place staff in January. Bring your unwrapped gift to Redeemer by December 17. There is a box to put your gift in the room where we worship. \n\n\n\n\nSelect a welcome gift to donate\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHopelink\n\n\n\nHopelink is a nonprofit organization working to end poverty in our community. Each year they help more than 64\,000 people through programs that provide stability and the skills and knowledge needed to exit poverty. \n\n\n\nHopelink provides a network of critical social services through a number of different programs—including the following: \n\n\n\n\nHousing.\n\n\n\nTransportation.\n\n\n\nFamily development.\n\n\n\nFinancial assistance.\n\n\n\nEmployment programs.\n\n\n\nAdult education.\n\n\n\nFinancial literacy training.\n\n\n\nFive food banks.\n\n\n\n\nFor families experiencing homelessness\, transitional and long-term housing as well as emergency family shelter may be available through Hopelink. \n\n\n\nRead more about Hopelink.

SUMMARY:Alcoholics Anonymous: Kenmore Friday Nighters
DESCRIPTION:Church of the Redeemer rents space to Alcoholics Anonymous for this meeting. Please contact Alcoholics Anonymous for more information. A.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nWhat is Alcoholics Anonymous?\n\n\n\nAlcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. \n\n\n\nThe only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy\, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. \n\n\n\nWhat A.A. does do: \n\n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.\n\n\n\nA.A. members share their experience with anyone seeking help with a drinking problem; they give person-to-person service or “sponsorship” to the alcoholic coming to A.A. from any source.\n\n\n\nThe A.A. program\, set forth in our Twelve Steps\, offers the alcoholic a way to develop a satisfying life without alcohol.\n\n\n\n\nThis program is discussed at A.A. group meetings. \n\n\n\n\nOpen speaker meetings — open to alcoholics and nonalcoholics. (Attendance at an open A.A. meeting is the best way to learn what A.A. is\, what it does\, and what it does not do.) At speaker meetings\, A.A. members “tell their stories.” They describe their experiences with alcohol\, how they came to A.A.\, and how their lives have changed as a result of Alcoholics Anonymous.\n\n\n\nOpen discussion meetings — one member speaks briefly about his or her drinking experience\, and then leads a discussion on A.A. recovery or any drinking-related problem anyone brings up. (Closed meetings are for A.A.s or anyone who may have a drinking problem.)\n\n\n\nClosed discussion meetings — conducted just as open discussions are\, but for alcoholics or prospective A.A.s only.\n\n\n\nStep meetings (usually closed) — discussion of one of the Twelve Steps.

SUMMARY:Cocaine Anonymous: Not In Vein (D3)
DESCRIPTION:Church of the Redeemer rents space to Cocaine Anonymous for this meeting. Please contact Cocaine Anonymous for more information. In the spirit of Tradition Six\, C.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nMeeting type: \n\n\n\n\nMeditation: Practices vary\, but typically there is a brief period of meditation prior to any sharing. The meditation may be silent or accompanied by audio intended to help facilitate the practice. Lights may be turned off or dimmed during the meditation.\n\n\n\n\nAbout C.A.\n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous is a Fellowship of men and women who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from their addiction. \n\n\n\nThe best way to reach someone is to speak to them on a common level. The members of C.A. are all recovering addicts who maintain their individual sobriety by working with others. We come from various social\, ethnic\, economic and religious backgrounds\, but what we have in common is addiction. \n\n\n\nThe only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. \n\n\n\nAnyone who wants to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances (including alcohol and other drugs) is welcome. \n\n\n\nThere are no dues or fees for membership; we are fully self-supporting through our own contributions. \n\n\n\nWe do ask for voluntary contributions at meetings to cover expenses such as coffee\, rent\, literature and services to help those who are still suffering. However\, newcomers need not feel obligated to contribute. We do not accept donations from organizations or individuals outside the Fellowship. \n\n\n\nWe are not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nIn order to maintain our integrity and avoid any possible complications\, we are not affiliated with any outside organization. Although C.A. is a spiritual program\, we do not align ourselves with any religion. Our members are free to define their spirituality as they see fit. Our individual members may have opinions of their own\, but C.A. as a whole has no opinion on outside issues. We are not affiliated with any rehabs\, recovery houses or hospitals\, but many do refer their patients to Cocaine Anonymous to maintain their sobriety. \n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay free from cocaine and all other mind-altering substances and to help others achieve the same freedom. \n\n\n\nThe only purpose of Cocaine Anonymous is to offer recovery to individuals who are suffering from addiction. Our experience has shown that the most effective way to attain and maintain sobriety is to work with others suffering from the same malady. \n\n\n\nWe use the Twelve-Step recovery program because it has already been proven that the Twelve-Step recovery program works. \n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous\n\n\n\nWelcome to Cocaine Anonymous . We are all here for the same reason—our inability to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. The first step towards solving any problem is admitting that there is a problem. \n\n\n\nThe problem\, as we see it\, consists of an obsession of the mind and an allergy of the body. The obsession is a continued and irresistible thought of the drugs and the next high. The allergy creates an absolute inability to stop using once we begin. \n\n\n\nWe wish to assure you that there is a solution and that recovery is possible. It begins with abstinence and continues with practicing the Twelve Steps of recovery\, one day at a time. Our program\, the Twelve Steps of Cocaine Anonymous\, is the means by which we move from the problem of addiction to the solution of recovery.

Every valley shall be lifted up\, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level\, and the rough places a plain. Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed\, and all people shall see it together\, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” A voice says\, “Cry out!” And I said\, “What shall I cry?” All people are grass\, their constancy is like the flower of the field. The grass withers\, the flower fades\, when the breath of the Lord blows upon it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers\, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever. Get you up to a high mountain\, O Zion\, herald of good tidings; lift up your voice with strength\, O Jerusalem\, herald of good tidings\, lift it up\, do not fear; say to the cities of Judah\, “Here is your God!” See\, the Lord God comes with might\, and his arm rules for him; his reward is with him\, and his recompense before him. He will feed his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms\, and carry them in his bosom\, and gently lead the mother sheep. \n\n\n\nPsalm 85:1-2\, 8-13 (BCP)\n\n\n\nBenedixisti\, Domine \n\n\n\n1 You have been gracious to your land\, O Lord\, *    you have restored the good fortune of Jacob.2 You have forgiven the iniquity of your people *    and blotted out all their sins.8 I will listen to what the Lord God is saying\, *    for he is speaking peace to his faithful people and to those who turn their hearts to him.9 Truly\, his salvation is very near to those who fear him\, *    that his glory may dwell in our land.10 Mercy and truth have met together; *    righteousness and peace have kissed each other.11 Truth shall spring up from the earth\, *    and righteousness shall look down from heaven.12 The Lord will indeed grant prosperity\, *    and our land will yield its increase.13 Righteousness shall go before him\, *    and peace shall be a pathway for his feet. \n\n\n\n2 Peter 3:8-15a (NRSV)\n\n\n\nDo not ignore this one fact\, beloved\, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years\, and a thousand years are like one day. The Lord is not slow about his promise\, as some think of slowness\, but is patient with you\, not wanting any to perish\, but all to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief\, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise\, and the elements will be dissolved with fire\, and the earth and everything that is done on it will be disclosed. Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way\, what sort of persons ought you to be in leading lives of holiness and godliness\, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God\, because of which the heavens will be set ablaze and dissolved\, and the elements will melt with fire? But\, in accordance with his promise\, we wait for new heavens and a new earth\, where righteousness is at home. Therefore\, beloved\, while you are waiting for these things\, strive to be found by him at peace\, without spot or blemish\, and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation. \n\n\n\nMark 1:1-8 (NRSV)\n\n\n\nThe beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ\, the Son of God. As it is written in the prophet Isaiah\, “See\, I am sending my messenger ahead of you\, who will prepare your way; the voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord\, make his paths straight\,’” John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness\, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. And people from the whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him\, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan\, confessing their sins. Now John was clothed with camel’s hair\, with a leather belt around his waist\, and he ate locusts and wild honey. He proclaimed\, “The one who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Old Testament\, New Testament and Gospel readings are from the New Revised Standard Version Bible: Anglicized Edition\, copyright 1989\, 1995\, Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. The term is from the Greek\, “thanksgiving.” \n\n\n\nJesus instituted the Eucharist “on the night when he was betrayed.” At the Last Supper he shared the bread and cup of wine at a sacred meal with his disciples. He identified the bread with his body and the wine with his blood of the new covenant. Jesus commanded his disciples to “do this” in remembrance of him (see 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Mark 14:22-25; Matthew 26:26-29; Luke 22:14-20). \n\n\n\nChrist’s sacrifice is made present by the Eucharist\, and in it we are united to his one self-offering (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 859). The Last Supper provides the basis for the fourfold Eucharistic action of taking\, blessing\, breaking\, and sharing. Christ’s body and blood are really present in the sacrament of the Eucharist and received by faith. Christ’s presence is also known in the gathered eucharistic community. \n\n\n\nIn the Book of Common Prayer\, the whole service is entitled the Holy Eucharist. \n\n\n\n\nThe first part of the service is designated the Word of God. It usually includes the entrance rite\, the lessons and gradual psalm\, the gospel\, the sermon\, the Nicene Creed\, the Prayers of the People\, the confession of sin and absolution\, and the Peace.\n\n\n\nThe second portion of the service is designated the Holy Communion. It includes the offertory\, the consecration of the bread and wine in the Great Thanksgiving\, the communion of the people\, and the concluding prayers of thanksgiving and dismissal. A blessing may be given prior to the dismissal.\n\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is also called the Lord’s Supper\, Holy Communion\, the Divine Liturgy\, the Mass\, and the Great Offertory (BCP\, p. 859). \n\n\n\nThe Hymnal 1982 includes a section with a variety of hymns for the Holy Eucharist (Numbers 300 through 347)\, including “Come\, risen Lord\, and deign to be our guest” (305 and 306)\, “My God\, thy table now is spread” (321)\, “Now\, my tongue\, the mystery telling” (329 through 331)\, and “I am the bread of life” (335). \n\n\n\n(Above taken from Eucharist .)

SUMMARY:Advent: from Chaos to Christ
DESCRIPTION:Intergenerational Christian education at Church of the Redeemer in December 2023 is all about Advent. Theresa Newell will lead us in exploring Advent: from Chaos to Christ. She will lead us in our exploration on December 3\, 10\, and 17\, 2023\, at 9:30 am. \n\n\n\nAll are welcome\, whether a member of Redeemer or anyone in the community having an interest in Advent. There will be activities for children to discussions for adults. \n\n\n\nJoin everyone in the main floor of the main building at 6220 Northeast 181st Street in Kenmore\, Washington. Call for more information at  +1 (425) 486-3777. Our email address is office@redeemer-kenmore.org. \n\n\n\nCome\, walk with us through Advent: from Chaos to Christ. \n\n\n\nHere is the topic for each Sunday: \n\n\n\n\nDecember 3. We will learn about the world into which Jesus was born. This includes economic\, political\, and geographic features.\n\nDo we see parallels in today’s economic and political atmosphere?\n\n\n\n\n\nDecember 10. We will discuss the expectations and hopes of the people—then and now. As part of the discussion\, we will discuss some passages from the Prophet Isaiah and include an introduction of the O Antiphons.\n\nHow did Jesus measure up?\n\n\n\nHow does change happen?\n\n\n\n\n\nDecember 17. We will continue our discussion of the O Antiphons. We might even sing a bit as we look for the coming of Christ anew.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdvent\n\n\n\nAdvent is the first season of the church year. It begins with the fourth Sunday before Christmas and continues through the day before Christmas (December 24). \n\n\n\nThe name “Advent:” is derived from a Latin word for “coming.” The season is a time of preparation and expectation for the coming celebration of our Lord’s nativity\, and for the final coming of Christ “in power and glory.” \n\n\n\n(Taken from Advent.)

SUMMARY:Questioning Together and Compline – 20s/30s
DESCRIPTION:How does a sense of place shape theology and belief? Join us at Saint Mark’s Leffler House for a conversation with other young adults. Explore how different social\, political\, and geographic landscapes can provide different contexts of expressing faith. This is with Canon Elise Johnstone from St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in West Seattle. Dessert provided. \n\n\n\nAt 9:15 pm\, we’ll head over to Compline together. \n\n\n\nQuestions? Email Emily Meeks (emeeks@saintmarks.org). \n\n\n\nAbout Questioning Together and Compline\n\n\n\nEach month we’ll explore a question of faith together with a facilitator providing background on the topic before open discussion. At 9:15 pm\, we’ll head over to Compline in St. Mark’s Cathedral together. \n\n\n\nThis year\, we’ll have facilitators from Saint Mark’s and across the Diocese. \n\n\n\nIn September\, Questioning Together and Compline will be held on the second Sunday of each month. Only the August 2023 meeting will be on the first Sunday.

SUMMARY:Cocaine Anonymous: Kenmore Keystone (D3)
DESCRIPTION:Church of the Redeemer rents space to Cocaine Anonymous for this meeting. Please contact Cocaine Anonymous for more information. In the spirit of Tradition Six\, C.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nMeeting type: \n\n\n\n\nMeditation: Practices vary\, but typically there is a brief period of meditation prior to any sharing. The meditation may be silent or accompanied by audio intended to help facilitate the practice. Lights may be turned off or dimmed during the meditation.\n\n\n\nCandlelight: The meeting is conducted partly or entirely by candlelight.\n\n\n\n\nAbout C.A.\n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous is a Fellowship of men and women who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from their addiction. \n\n\n\n12 steps of Cocaine Anonymous\n\n\n\n\nWe admitted we were powerless over cocaine and all other mind-altering substances—that our lives had become unmanageable.\n\n\n\nCame to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.\n\n\n\nMade a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.\n\n\n\nMade a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.\n\n\n\nAdmitted to God\, to ourselves\, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.\n\n\n\nWere entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.\n\n\n\nHumbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.\n\n\n\nMade a list of all persons we had harmed\, and became willing to make amends to them all.\n\n\n\nMade direct amends to such people wherever possible\, except when to do so would injure them or others.\n\n\n\nContinued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.\n\n\n\nSought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him\, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.\n\n\n\nHaving had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps\, we tried to carry this message to addicts\, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

SUMMARY:Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:Redeemer offers a weekly Bible study. Join Fr. Jed to delve deeper into scripture and grow in the knowledge and love of God.  \n\n\n\nBible study will be at 11:00 am. We will be studying the readings for the coming Sunday.  \n\n\n\nWatch for last-minute announcements about changes on our Facebook page. There are times this study may have to be changed or cancelled at the last moment. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to join\, but this time doesn’t work for you\, please let Fr. Jed know after August 2023. We can look at adding and/or changing the time of the study. \n\n\n\nThe Bible\n\n\n\nThe Bible are the Holy Scriptures of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) and Christian Scriptures (New Testament)\, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit\, containing all things necessary to salvation. \n\n\n\nThe Hebrew Scriptures reveals God’s mighty acts in creation\, the deliverance of the people of Israel from bondage in Egypt\, and the making of the old covenant with the chosen people. God’s saving will for his people is made known in the Hebrew Scriptures through the gift of the Law in the Ten Commandments and through the witness of the prophets. \n\n\n\nThe Christian Scriptures describe the life\, death\, and resurrection of Jesus Christ\, the Messiah\, whose coming was foretold in the Hebrew Scriptures. It also tells the story of the creation of the Christian church through the gift of the Holy Spirit and presents the new covenant\, based on love\, which is the new relationship with God given by Jesus Christ to all who believe in him. (Book of Common Prayer\, pp. 850-851). \n\n\n\nThe Apocrypha\n\n\n\nThe additional books of the Apocrypha\, written by people of the old covenant\, are often included in the Bible. Although selections from the Apocrypha are used in the worship of the Episcopal Church\, the Apocryphal books are not generally considered of equal scriptural authority in Anglicanism with the Hebrew Scriptures and Christian Scriptures. \n\n\n\nTranslations used in the Episcopal Church\n\n\n\nThe translations of the Bible authorized for use in the worship of the Episcopal Church are the following: \n\n\n\n\nThe King James Version (Authorized Version)\, together with the Marginal Readings authorized for use by the General Convention of 1901\n\n\n\nThe English Revision of 1881\n\n\n\nThe American Revision of 1901\n\n\n\nThe Revised Standard Version of 1952\n\n\n\nThe Jerusalem Bible of 1966\n\n\n\nThe New English Bible with the Apocrypha of 1970\n\n\n\nThe 1976 Good News Bible (Today’s English Version)\n\n\n\nThe New American Bible (1970)\n\n\n\nThe Revised Standard Version\, an Ecumenical Edition\, known as the “R.S.V. Common Bible” (1973)\n\n\n\nThe New International Version (1978)\n\n\n\nThe New Jerusalem Bible (1987)\n\n\n\nThe Revised English Bible (1989)\n\n\n\nThe New Revised Standard Version Bible (1990) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n(The above section on the Bible adapted from The Bible.)

SUMMARY:Holy Eucharist
DESCRIPTION:Redeemer offers the Holy Eucharist on Wednesdays at 12:00 noon.  \n\n\n\nJoin us to find for this short opportunity to commune with God. Find the stillness and peace of God in the midst of the week.  \n\n\n\nWatch for last-minute announcements about changes on our Facebook page. There are times this service may have to be changed or cancelled at the last moment. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you when you can join us at the Eucharist.  \n\n\n\nEucharist\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood\, and the principal act of Christian worship. Jesus commanded his disciples to “do this” in remembrance of him (see 1 Cor 11:23-26; Mk 14:22-25; Mt 26:26-29; Lk 22:14-20). \n\n\n\n(Above taken from Eucharist.)

For as the earth brings forth its shoots\, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to spring up\, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations. \n\n\n\nPsalm 126 (BCP)\n\n\n\nIn convertendo \n\n\n\n1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion\, *    then were we like those who dream. \n\n\n\n2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter\, *    and our tongue with shouts of joy. \n\n\n\n3 Then they said among the nations\, *    “The Lord has done great things for them.” \n\n\n\n4 The Lord has done great things for us\, *    and we are glad indeed. \n\n\n\n5 Restore our fortunes\, O Lord\, *    like the watercourses of the Negev. \n\n\n\n6 Those who sowed with tears *    will reap with songs of joy. \n\n\n\n7 Those who go out weeping\, carrying the seed\, *    will come again with joy\, shouldering their sheaves. \n\n\n\nCanticle 15: The Song of Mary (BCP)\n\n\n\nMagnificat \n\n\n\nMy soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord\, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; *   for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. \n\n\n\nFrom this day all generations will call me blessed: *   the Almighty has done great things for me\, and holy is his Name. \n\n\n\nHe has mercy on those who fear him *   in every generation. \n\n\n\nHe has shown the strength of his arm\, *   he has scattered the proud in their conceit. \n\n\n\nHe has cast down the mighty from their thrones\, *   and has lifted up the lowly. \n\n\n\nHe has filled the hungry with good things\, *   and the rich he has sent away empty. \n\n\n\nHe has come to the help of his servant Israel\, *   for he has remembered his promise of mercy\, \n\n\n\nThe promise he made to our fathers\, *   to Abraham and his children for ever. \n\n\n\n1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 (NRSV)\n\n\n\nRejoice always\, pray without ceasing\, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise the words of prophets\, but test everything; hold fast to what is good; abstain from every form of evil. May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful\, and he will do this. \n\n\n\nJohn 1:6-8\, 19-28 (NRSV)\n\n\n\nThere was a man sent from God\, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify to the light\, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the light\, but he came to testify to the light. This is the testimony given by John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him\, “Who are you?” He confessed and did not deny it\, but confessed\, “I am not the Messiah.” And they asked him\, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said\, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered\, “No.” Then they said to him\, “Who are you? Let us have an answer for those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” He said\, “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness\, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord\,’” as the prophet Isaiah said. Now they had been sent from the Pharisees. They asked him\, “Why then are you baptizing if you are neither the Messiah\, nor Elijah\, nor the prophet?” John answered them\, “I baptize with water. Among you stands one whom you do not know\, the one who is coming after me; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandal.” This took place in Bethany across the Jordan where John was baptizing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Old Testament\, New Testament and Gospel readings are from the New Revised Standard Version Bible: Anglicized Edition\, copyright 1989\, 1995\, Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. SUMMARY:In-person Holy Eucharist
DESCRIPTION:Everyone is welcome at Church of the Redeemer. We look forward to seeing you at this 8:00 am Sunday service of Holy Eucharist at Church of the Redeemer. It is in-person only. \n\n\n\nWhile not required\, you may wear a mask when in the building. We have masks available for you\, if you want. \n\n\n\nEucharist\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood\, and the principal act of Christian worship.

Jesus commanded his disciples to “do this” in remembrance of him (see 1 Cor 11:23-26; Mk 14:22-25; Mt 26:26-29; Lk 22:14-20). \n\n\n\n(Above taken from Eucharist.)
