There are times this study may have to be changed or cancelled at the last moment. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to join\, but this time doesn’t work for you\, please let Fr. Jed know after August 2023. We can look at adding and/or changing the time of the study. \n\n\n\nThe Bible\n\n\n\nThe Bible are the Holy Scriptures of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) and Christian Scriptures (New Testament)\, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit\, containing all things necessary to salvation. \n\n\n\nThe Hebrew Scriptures reveals God’s mighty acts in creation\, the deliverance of the people of Israel from bondage in Egypt\, and the making of the old covenant with the chosen people. God’s saving will for his people is made known in the Hebrew Scriptures through the gift of the Law in the Ten Commandments and through the witness of the prophets.  \n\n\n\nThe Christian Scriptures describe the life\, death\, and resurrection of Jesus Christ\, the Messiah\, whose coming was foretold in the Hebrew Scriptures. It also tells the story of the creation of the Christian church through the gift of the Holy Spirit and presents the new covenant\, based on love\, which is the new relationship with God given by Jesus Christ to all who believe in him. (Book of Common Prayer\, pp. 850-851). \n\n\n\nThe Apocrypha\n\n\n\nThe additional books of the Apocrypha\, written by people of the old covenant\, are often included in the Bible. There are times this service may have to be changed or cancelled at the last moment. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you when you can join us at the Eucharist.  \n\n\n\nEucharist\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood\, and the principal act of Christian worship. The term is from the Greek\, “thanksgiving.” \n\n\n\nJesus instituted the Eucharist “on the night when he was betrayed.” At the Last Supper he shared the bread and cup of wine at a sacred meal with his disciples. He identified the bread with his body and the wine with his blood of the new covenant. Jesus commanded his disciples to “do this” in remembrance of him (see 1 Cor 11:23-26; Mk 14:22-25; Mt 26:26-29; Lk 22:14-20). \n\n\n\nChrist’s sacrifice is made present by the Eucharist\, and in it we are united to his one self-offering (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 859). The Last Supper provides the basis for the fourfold Eucharistic action of taking\, blessing\, breaking\, and sharing. Christ’s body and blood are really present in the sacrament of the Eucharist and received by faith. Christ’s presence is also known in the gathered eucharistic community. \n\n\n\nIn the Book of Common Prayer\, the whole service is entitled the Holy Eucharist. \n\n\n\n\nThe first part of the service is designated the Word of God. It usually includes the entrance rite\, the lessons and gradual psalm\, the gospel\, the sermon\, the Nicene Creed\, the Prayers of the People\, the confession of sin and absolution\, and the Peace.\n\n\n\nThe second portion of the service is designated the Holy Communion. It includes the offertory\, the consecration of the bread and wine in the Great Thanksgiving\, the communion of the people\, and the concluding prayers of thanksgiving and dismissal. DESCRIPTION:Church of the Redeemer rents space to Alcoholics Anonymous for this meeting. Please contact Alcoholics Anonymous for more information. A.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nWhat is Alcoholics Anonymous?\n\n\n\nAlcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. \n\n\n\nThe only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy\, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. \n\n\n\nWhat A.A. does do: \n\n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.\n\n\n\nA.A. members share their experience with anyone seeking help with a drinking problem; they give person-to-person service or “sponsorship” to the alcoholic coming to A.A. from any source.\n\n\n\nThe A.A. program\, set forth in our Twelve Steps\, offers the alcoholic a way to develop a satisfying life without alcohol.\n\n\n\n\nThis program is discussed at A.A. group meetings. \n\n\n\n\nOpen speaker meetings — open to alcoholics and nonalcoholics. (Attendance at an open A.A. meeting is the best way to learn what A.A. is\, what it does\, and what it does not do.) At speaker meetings\, A.A. members “tell their stories.” They describe their experiences with alcohol\, how they came to A.A.\, and how their lives have changed as a result of Alcoholics Anonymous.\n\n\n\nOpen discussion meetings — one member speaks briefly about his or her drinking experience\, and then leads a discussion on A.A. recovery or any drinking-related problem anyone brings up. DESCRIPTION:Children meet each Sunday from 9:30 to 10:15 downstairs in the Children’s Room off of the parish hall at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Kenmore\, Washington. We are using Current: Seeking Peace Together.  \n\n\n\nWe will explore God’s peace and wish for us. God’s peace signifies all of life being complete\, healthy\, and whole. Peace has multiple aspects:  \n\n\n\n\nPeace with God.\n\n\n\nPeace  with self.\n\n\n\nPeace with others.\n\n\n\nPeace with creation. \n\n\n\n\nJoin us as we explore peace and wholeness! All elementary-aged children are welcome. \n\n\n\nThe class is free and open to children in the community. You do not need to be a member of Church of the Redeemer. \n\n\n\nAn adult class takes place on the main floor of the worship area at the same time. \n\n\n\nChurch of the Redeemer is at 6220 NE 181st Street in Kenmore\, Washington. DESCRIPTION:Everyone is welcome at Church of the Redeemer. We look forward to seeing you at this 10:30 am service of Holy Eucharist at Church of the Redeemer. It is in-person and on-line. \n\n\n\nWhile not required\, you may wear a mask when in the building. We have masks available for you\, if you want. \n\n\n\nThe service is broadcast live on the Welcome page of this website. \n\n\n\nEucharist\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood\, and the principal act of Christian worship. The term is from the Greek\, “thanksgiving.” \n\n\n\nJesus instituted the Eucharist “on the night when he was betrayed.” At the Last Supper he shared the bread and cup of wine at a sacred meal with his disciples. He identified the bread with his body and the wine with his blood of the new covenant. Jesus commanded his disciples to “do this” in remembrance of him (see 1 Cor 11:23-26; Mk 14:22-25; Mt 26:26-29; Lk 22:14-20). \n\n\n\nChrist’s sacrifice is made present by the Eucharist\, and in it we are united to his one self-offering (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 859). The Last Supper provides the basis for the fourfold Eucharistic action of taking\, blessing\, breaking\, and sharing. Christ’s body and blood are really present in the sacrament of the Eucharist and received by faith. Christ’s presence is also known in the gathered eucharistic community. \n\n\n\nIn the Book of Common Prayer\, the whole service is entitled the Holy Eucharist. \n\n\n\n\nThe first part of the service is designated the Word of God. It usually includes the entrance rite\, the lessons and gradual psalm\, the gospel\, the sermon\, the Nicene Creed\, the Prayers of the People\, the confession of sin and absolution\, and the Peace.\n\n\n\nThe second portion of the service is designated the Holy Communion. It includes the offertory\, the consecration of the bread and wine in the Great Thanksgiving\, the communion of the people\, and the concluding prayers of thanksgiving and dismissal. DESCRIPTION:Church of the Redeemer rents space to Cocaine Anonymous for this meeting. Please contact Cocaine Anonymous for more information. In the spirit of Tradition Six\, C.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nMeeting type: \n\n\n\n\nMeditation: Practices vary\, but typically there is a brief period of meditation prior to any sharing. The meditation may be silent or accompanied by audio intended to help facilitate the practice. Lights may be turned off or dimmed during the meditation.\n\n\n\nCandlelight: The meeting is conducted partly or entirely by candlelight.\n\n\n\n\nAbout C.A.\n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous is a Fellowship of men and women who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from their addiction. \n\n\n\nThe best way to reach someone is to speak to them on a common level. The members of C.A. are all recovering addicts who maintain their individual sobriety by working with others. We come from various social\, ethnic\, economic and religious backgrounds\, but what we have in common is addiction. \n\n\n\nThe only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. \n\n\n\nAnyone who wants to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances (including alcohol and other drugs) is welcome. \n\n\n\nThere are no dues or fees for membership; we are fully self-supporting through our own contributions. \n\n\n\nWe do ask for voluntary contributions at meetings to cover expenses such as coffee\, rent\, literature and services to help those who are still suffering. However\, newcomers need not feel obligated to contribute. We do not accept donations from organizations or individuals outside the Fellowship. \n\n\n\nWe are not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nIn order to maintain our integrity and avoid any possible complications\, we are not affiliated with any outside organization. Although C.A. is a spiritual program\, we do not align ourselves with any religion. Our members are free to define their spirituality as they see fit. Our individual members may have opinions of their own\, but C.A. as a whole has no opinion on outside issues. We are not affiliated with any rehabs\, recovery houses or hospitals\, but many do refer their patients to Cocaine Anonymous to maintain their sobriety. \n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay free from cocaine and all other mind-altering substances and to help others achieve the same freedom. \n\n\n\nThe only purpose of Cocaine Anonymous is to offer recovery to individuals who are suffering from addiction. Our experience has shown that the most effective way to attain and maintain sobriety is to work with others suffering from the same malady. \n\n\n\nWe use the Twelve-Step recovery program because it has already been proven that the Twelve-Step recovery program works. \n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous\n\n\n\nWelcome to Cocaine Anonymous . We are all here for the same reason—our inability to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. The first step towards solving any problem is admitting that there is a problem. \n\n\n\n12 steps of Cocaine Anonymous\n\n\n\n\nWe admitted we were powerless over cocaine and all other mind-altering substances—that our lives had become unmanageable.\n\n\n\nCame to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.\n\n\n\nMade a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.\n\n\n\nMade a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.\n\n\n\nAdmitted to God\, to ourselves\, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.\n\n\n\nWere entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.\n\n\n\nHumbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.\n\n\n\nMade a list of all persons we had harmed\, and became willing to make amends to them all.\n\n\n\nMade direct amends to such people wherever possible\, except when to do so would injure them or others.\n\n\n\nContinued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.\n\n\n\nSought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him\, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.\n\n\n\nHaving had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps\, we tried to carry this message to addicts\, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

SUMMARY:Contemplative Prayer
DESCRIPTION:Every Tuesday in Lent 2025\, the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer will be open from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm for contemplative prayer. Come for five minutes or for two hours. Be still in the Spirit during this season of repentance and preparation. \n\n\n\nContemplative prayer\n\n\n\n“Contemplation” is a form of mental prayer. Meditation and petition give way to quiet adoration of the mysteries of God.  \n\n\n\nContemplative prayer comes after a period of recollection and self-abandonment. Daily concerns vanish. Active imagination gives way to waiting and listening. God is sought and found within the self as divine dwelling-place.  \n\n\n\nNot all believers experience contemplation. All may desired it\, and such a desire is already God’s grace. \n\n\n\nTaken from Contemplation. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1 Kings 19:11-13 (NRSV)\n\n\n\nHe said\, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord\, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Now there was a great wind\, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord\, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake\, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire\, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. When Elijah heard it\, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. DESCRIPTION:Redeemer offers a weekly Bible study. Join Fr. Jed to delve deeper into scripture and grow in the knowledge and love of God.  \n\n\n\nBible study will be at 11:00 am. We can look at adding and/or changing the time of the study. \n\n\n\nThe Bible\n\n\n\nThe Bible are the Holy Scriptures of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament) and Christian Scriptures (New Testament)\, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit\, containing all things necessary to salvation. \n\n\n\nThe Hebrew Scriptures reveals God’s mighty acts in creation\, the deliverance of the people of Israel from bondage in Egypt\, and the making of the old covenant with the chosen people. God’s saving will for his people is made known in the Hebrew Scriptures through the gift of the Law in the Ten Commandments and through the witness of the prophets.  \n\n\n\nThe Christian Scriptures describe the life\, death\, and resurrection of Jesus Christ\, the Messiah\, whose coming was foretold in the Hebrew Scriptures. It also tells the story of the creation of the Christian church through the gift of the Holy Spirit and presents the new covenant\, based on love\, which is the new relationship with God given by Jesus Christ to all who believe in him. (Book of Common Prayer\, pp. 850-851). \n\n\n\nThe Apocrypha\n\n\n\nThe additional books of the Apocrypha\, written by people of the old covenant\, are often included in the Bible. A.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nWhat is Alcoholics Anonymous?\n\n\n\nAlcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. \n\n\n\nThe only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy\, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. \n\n\n\nWhat A.A. does do: \n\n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.\n\n\n\nA.A. members share their experience with anyone seeking help with a drinking problem; they give person-to-person service or “sponsorship” to the alcoholic coming to A.A. from any source.\n\n\n\nThe A.A. program\, set forth in our Twelve Steps\, offers the alcoholic a way to develop a satisfying life without alcohol.\n\n\n\n\nThis program is discussed at A.A. group meetings. \n\n\n\n\nOpen speaker meetings — open to alcoholics and nonalcoholics. We have masks available for you\, if you want. \n\n\n\nEucharist\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood\, and the principal act of Christian worship. The term is from the Greek\, “thanksgiving.” \n\n\n\nJesus instituted the Eucharist “on the night when he was betrayed.” At the Last Supper he shared the bread and cup of wine at a sacred meal with his disciples. He identified the bread with his body and the wine with his blood of the new covenant. Jesus commanded his disciples to “do this” in remembrance of him (see 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Mark 14:22-25; Matthew 26:26-29; Luke 22:14-20). \n\n\n\nChrist’s sacrifice is made present by the Eucharist\, and in it we are united to his one self-offering (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 859). The Last Supper provides the basis for the fourfold Eucharistic action of taking\, blessing\, breaking\, and sharing. Christ’s body and blood are really present in the sacrament of the Eucharist and received by faith. Christ’s presence is also known in the gathered eucharistic community. \n\n\n\nIn the Book of Common Prayer\, the whole service is entitled the Holy Eucharist. \n\n\n\n\nThe first part of the service is designated the Word of God. It usually includes the entrance rite\, the lessons and gradual psalm\, the gospel\, the sermon\, the Nicene Creed\, the Prayers of the People\, the confession of sin and absolution\, and the Peace.\n\n\n\nThe second portion of the service is designated the Holy Communion. It includes the offertory\, the consecration of the bread and wine in the Great Thanksgiving\, the communion of the people\, and the concluding prayers of thanksgiving and dismissal. DESCRIPTION:Children meet each Sunday from 9:30 to 10:15 downstairs in the Children’s Room off of the parish hall at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Kenmore\, Washington. We are using Current: Seeking Peace Together.  \n\n\n\nWe will explore God’s peace and wish for us. God’s peace signifies all of life being complete\, healthy\, and whole. Peace has multiple aspects:  \n\n\n\n\nPeace with God.\n\n\n\nPeace  with self.\n\n\n\nPeace with others.\n\n\n\nPeace with creation. \n\n\n\n\nJoin us as we explore peace and wholeness! All elementary-aged children are welcome. \n\n\n\nThe class is free and open to children in the community. You do not need to be a member of Church of the Redeemer. \n\n\n\nAn adult class takes place on the main floor of the worship area at the same time. \n\n\n\nChurch of the Redeemer is at 6220 NE 181st Street in Kenmore\, Washington. However\, newcomers need not feel obligated to contribute. We do not accept donations from organizations or individuals outside the Fellowship. \n\n\n\nWe are not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nIn order to maintain our integrity and avoid any possible complications\, we are not affiliated with any outside organization. Although C.A. is a spiritual program\, we do not align ourselves with any religion. Our members are free to define their spirituality as they see fit. Our individual members may have opinions of their own\, but C.A. as a whole has no opinion on outside issues. We are not affiliated with any rehabs\, recovery houses or hospitals\, but many do refer their patients to Cocaine Anonymous to maintain their sobriety. \n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay free from cocaine and all other mind-altering substances and to help others achieve the same freedom. \n\n\n\nThe only purpose of Cocaine Anonymous is to offer recovery to individuals who are suffering from addiction. Our experience has shown that the most effective way to attain and maintain sobriety is to work with others suffering from the same malady. \n\n\n\nWe use the Twelve-Step recovery program because it has already been proven that the Twelve-Step recovery program works. \n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous\n\n\n\nWelcome to Cocaine Anonymous . We are all here for the same reason—our inability to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. The first step towards solving any problem is admitting that there is a problem. \n\n\n\n12 steps of Cocaine Anonymous\n\n\n\n\nWe admitted we were powerless over cocaine and all other mind-altering substances—that our lives had become unmanageable.\n\n\n\nCame to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.\n\n\n\nMade a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.\n\n\n\nMade a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.\n\n\n\nAdmitted to God\, to ourselves\, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.\n\n\n\nWere entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.\n\n\n\nHumbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.\n\n\n\nMade a list of all persons we had harmed\, and became willing to make amends to them all.\n\n\n\nMade direct amends to such people wherever possible\, except when to do so would injure them or others.\n\n\n\nContinued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.\n\n\n\nSought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him\, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.\n\n\n\nHaving had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps\, we tried to carry this message to addicts\, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

DESCRIPTION:Every Tuesday in Lent 2025\, the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer will be open from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm for contemplative prayer. Come for five minutes or for two hours. Be still in the Spirit during this season of repentance and preparation. \n\n\n\nContemplative prayer\n\n\n\n“Contemplation” is a form of mental prayer. Meditation and petition give way to quiet adoration of the mysteries of God.  \n\n\n\nContemplative prayer comes after a period of recollection and self-abandonment. Daily concerns vanish. Active imagination gives way to waiting and listening. God is sought and found within the self as divine dwelling-place.  \n\n\n\nNot all believers experience contemplation. There are times this service may have to be changed or cancelled at the last moment. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you when you can join us at the Eucharist.  \n\n\n\nEucharist\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood\, and the principal act of Christian worship. The term is from the Greek\, “thanksgiving.” \n\n\n\nJesus instituted the Eucharist “on the night when he was betrayed.” At the Last Supper he shared the bread and cup of wine at a sacred meal with his disciples. He identified the bread with his body and the wine with his blood of the new covenant. Jesus commanded his disciples to “do this” in remembrance of him (see 1 Cor 11:23-26; Mk 14:22-25; Mt 26:26-29; Lk 22:14-20). \n\n\n\nChrist’s sacrifice is made present by the Eucharist\, and in it we are united to his one self-offering (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 859). The Last Supper provides the basis for the fourfold Eucharistic action of taking\, blessing\, breaking\, and sharing. Christ’s body and blood are really present in the sacrament of the Eucharist and received by faith. Christ’s presence is also known in the gathered eucharistic community. \n\n\n\nIn the Book of Common Prayer\, the whole service is entitled the Holy Eucharist. \n\n\n\n\nThe first part of the service is designated the Word of God. It usually includes the entrance rite\, the lessons and gradual psalm\, the gospel\, the sermon\, the Nicene Creed\, the Prayers of the People\, the confession of sin and absolution\, and the Peace.\n\n\n\nThe second portion of the service is designated the Holy Communion. It includes the offertory\, the consecration of the bread and wine in the Great Thanksgiving\, the communion of the people\, and the concluding prayers of thanksgiving and dismissal. A blessing may be given prior to the dismissal.\n\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is also called the Lord’s Supper\, Holy Communion\, the Divine Liturgy\, the Mass\, and the Great Offertory (BCP\, p. 859). \n\n\n\nThe Hymnal 1982 includes a section with a variety of hymns for the Holy Eucharist (Numbers 300 through 347)\, including “Come\, risen Lord\, and deign to be our guest” (305 and 306)\, “My God\, thy table now is spread” (321)\, “Now\, my tongue\, the mystery telling” (329 through 331)\, and “I am the bread of life” (335). \n\n\n\n(Above taken from Eucharist.)

There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy\, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. \n\n\n\nWhat A.A. does do: \n\n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.\n\n\n\nA.A. members share their experience with anyone seeking help with a drinking problem; they give person-to-person service or “sponsorship” to the alcoholic coming to A.A. from any source.\n\n\n\nThe A.A. program\, set forth in our Twelve Steps\, offers the alcoholic a way to develop a satisfying life without alcohol.\n\n\n\n\nThis program is discussed at A.A. group meetings. \n\n\n\n\nOpen speaker meetings — open to alcoholics and nonalcoholics. DESCRIPTION:Do you enjoy puttering in a garden? How about working with your hands? Is it time for you to step away from the keyboard and touch some grass? If so\, attend our next Parish Workparty.  \n\n\n\nWe start at 9:30 am. There will be Morning Prayer and snacks before working on the projects for this day.  \n\n\n\nOn Saturday April 12th\, you are invited to come and help Redeemer get ready for Holy Week. We’ll roll up our sleeves and get the church ready for Holy Week. \n\n\n\nHoly Week rehersals\n\n\n\nThere will also be rehearsals for the principle services of Holy Week at the following times: \n\n\n\n\nPalm Sunday\, 11:00 am \n\n\n\nMaundy Thursday\, 11:30 am \n\n\n\nGood Friday\, 12:00 noon \n\n\n\n\nIf you are scheduled\, or have signed up to help with any of these liturgies\, please plan to attend the rehearsal. \n\n\n\n(Rehearsal for the Easter Vigil is on Saturday\, April 19.) \n\n\n\nWorkparty activities\n\n\n\nCleaning inside the church building during a workparty.\n\n\n\nFeel free to bring gardening and small maintenance tools to help with minor repairs. Neither has Herod\, for he sent him back to us. Indeed\, this man has done nothing to deserve death. I will therefore have him flogged and release him. NarratorThen the elders all shouted out together\, Elder 2Away with this fellow! Elder 3Release Barabbas for us! Narrator(Barabbas was a man who had been put in prison for an insurrection that had taken place in the city\, and for murder.)  Pilate\, wanting to release Jesus\, addressed them again; but they kept shouting\,Elder 1Crucify\, crucify him! NarratorA third time Pilate said to them\, PilateWhy\, what evil has he done? I have found in him no ground for the sentence of death; I will therefore have him flogged and then release him. NarratorBut the Elders kept urgently demanding with loud shouts that Jesus should be crucified; and their voices prevailed. So Pilate gave his verdict that their demand should be granted. Pilate released the man they asked for\, the one who had been put in prison for insurrection and murder\, and he handed Jesus over as they wished.  As they led Jesus away\, they seized a man\, Simon of Cyrene\, who was coming from the country\, and they laid the cross on him\, and made him carry it behind Jesus. A great number of the people followed him\, and among them were women who were beating their breasts and wailing for him. But Jesus turned to them and said\,JesusDaughters of Jerusalem\, do not weep for me\, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For the days are surely coming when they will say\, “Blessed are the barren\, and the wombs that never bore\, and the breasts that never nursed\,” Then they will begin to say to the mountains\, “Fall on us”; and to the hills\, “Cover us.” For if they do this when the wood is green\, what will happen when it is dry? NarratorTwo others also\, who were criminals\, were led away to be put to death with Jesus.  All stand. When they came to the place that is called The Skull\, they crucified Jesus there with the criminals\, one on his right and one on his left. The term is from the Latin passio\, “suffering.” A gospel narrative of the Passion is called the Passion. It may also be called the Passion gospel or the Passion narrative. It is read liturgically during Holy Week.  \n\n\n\nThe accounts of Matthew\, Mark\, or Luke are read on the Sunday of the Passion\, also called Palm Sunday (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 273)\, in different years of the three-year eucharistic lectionary.  \n\n\n\nSt. John’s Passion is read every year on Good Friday (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 277).  \n\n\n\nThe narratives are often read dramatically with different readers taking the parts of various participants. \n\n\n\nPalm Sunday (The Sunday of the Passion)\n\n\n\nPalm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter at which Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1-11\, Mark 11:1-11a\, Luke 19:29-40) and Jesus’ Passion on the cross (Mt 26:36-27:66\, Mk 14:32-15:47\, Lk 22:39-23:56) are recalled. It is also known as the Sunday of the Passion.  \n\n\n\nPalm Sunday is the first day of Holy Week. They sang psalms\, including Psalm 118\, and shouted the antiphon (refrain)\, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” The Palm Sunday observance was generally accepted throughout the church by the twelfth century.  \n\n\n\nThe liturgy of the palms is the entrance rite for the service. The congregation may gather at a place apart from the church and process to the church after the blessing of the branches of palm or other trees (Book of Common Prayer\, p. 270). The liturgy of the palms includes a reading of one of the gospel accounts of Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem. After the entrance rite\, the service changes focus abruptly from the triumphal entry into Jerusalem to the solemnity of the Passion.  \n\n\n\nEucharist\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is the sacrament of Christ’s body and blood\, and the principal act of Christian worship. The term is from the Greek\, “thanksgiving.” \n\n\n\nJesus instituted the Eucharist “on the night when he was betrayed.” At the Last Supper he shared the bread and cup of wine at a sacred meal with his disciples. He identified the bread with his body and the wine with his blood of the new covenant. Christ’s presence is also known in the gathered eucharistic community. \n\n\n\nIn the Book of Common Prayer\, the whole service is entitled the Holy Eucharist. \n\n\n\n\nThe first part of the service is designated the Word of God. It usually includes the entrance rite\, the lessons and gradual psalm\, the gospel\, the sermon\, the Nicene Creed\, the Prayers of the People\, the confession of sin and absolution\, and the Peace.\n\n\n\nThe second portion of the service is designated the Holy Communion. It includes the offertory\, the consecration of the bread and wine in the Great Thanksgiving\, the communion of the people\, and the concluding prayers of thanksgiving and dismissal. A blessing may be given prior to the dismissal.\n\n\n\n\nThe Eucharist is also called the Lord’s Supper\, Holy Communion\, the Divine Liturgy\, the Mass\, and the Great Offertory (BCP\, p. 859). \n\n\n\nThe Hymnal 1982 includes a section with a variety of hymns for the Holy Eucharist (Numbers 300 through 347)\, including “Come\, risen Lord\, and deign to be our guest” (305 and 306)\, “My God\, thy table now is spread” (321)\, “Now\, my tongue\, the mystery telling” (329 through 331)\, and “I am the bread of life” (335). \n\n\n\n(Above taken from Eucharist .)

It usually includes the entrance rite\, the lessons and gradual psalm\, the gospel\, the sermon\, the Nicene Creed\, the Prayers of the People\, the confession of sin and absolution\, and the Peace.\n\n\n\nThe second portion of the service is designated the Holy Communion. It includes the offertory\, the consecration of the bread and wine in the Great Thanksgiving\, the communion of the people\, and the concluding prayers of thanksgiving and dismissal. Dress appropriately.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe memorial garden is on the north side of the main church building. To enter it\, walk as if you are going to enter the main front doors. Then\, as you approach the building\, walk to the left of those doors down the concrete walk to the back of the building.

In the spirit of Tradition Six\, C.A. is not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nMeeting type: \n\n\n\n\nMeditation: Practices vary\, but typically there is a brief period of meditation prior to any sharing. The meditation may be silent or accompanied by audio intended to help facilitate the practice. Lights may be turned off or dimmed during the meditation.\n\n\n\nCandlelight: The meeting is conducted partly or entirely by candlelight.\n\n\n\n\nAbout C.A.\n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous is a Fellowship of men and women who share their experience\, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from their addiction. \n\n\n\nThe best way to reach someone is to speak to them on a common level. The members of C.A. are all recovering addicts who maintain their individual sobriety by working with others. We come from various social\, ethnic\, economic and religious backgrounds\, but what we have in common is addiction. \n\n\n\nThe only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. \n\n\n\nAnyone who wants to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances (including alcohol and other drugs) is welcome. \n\n\n\nThere are no dues or fees for membership; we are fully self-supporting through our own contributions. \n\n\n\nWe do ask for voluntary contributions at meetings to cover expenses such as coffee\, rent\, literature and services to help those who are still suffering. However\, newcomers need not feel obligated to contribute. We do not accept donations from organizations or individuals outside the Fellowship. \n\n\n\nWe are not allied with any sect\, denomination\, politics\, organization or institution. \n\n\n\nIn order to maintain our integrity and avoid any possible complications\, we are not affiliated with any outside organization. Although C.A. is a spiritual program\, we do not align ourselves with any religion. Our members are free to define their spirituality as they see fit. Our individual members may have opinions of their own\, but C.A. as a whole has no opinion on outside issues. We are not affiliated with any rehabs\, recovery houses or hospitals\, but many do refer their patients to Cocaine Anonymous to maintain their sobriety. \n\n\n\nOur primary purpose is to stay free from cocaine and all other mind-altering substances and to help others achieve the same freedom. \n\n\n\nThe only purpose of Cocaine Anonymous is to offer recovery to individuals who are suffering from addiction. Our experience has shown that the most effective way to attain and maintain sobriety is to work with others suffering from the same malady. \n\n\n\nWe use the Twelve-Step recovery program because it has already been proven that the Twelve-Step recovery program works. \n\n\n\nCocaine Anonymous\n\n\n\nWelcome to Cocaine Anonymous . We are all here for the same reason—our inability to stop using cocaine and all other mind-altering substances. The first step towards solving any problem is admitting that there is a problem. \n\n\n\n12 steps of Cocaine Anonymous\n\n\n\n\nWe admitted we were powerless over cocaine and all other mind-altering substances—that our lives had become unmanageable.\n\n\n\nCame to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.\n\n\n\nMade a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.\n\n\n\nMade a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.\n\n\n\nAdmitted to God\, to ourselves\, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.\n\n\n\nWere entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.\n\n\n\nHumbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.\n\n\n\nMade a list of all persons we had harmed\, and became willing to make amends to them all.\n\n\n\nMade direct amends to such people wherever possible\, except when to do so would injure them or others.\n\n\n\nContinued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.\n\n\n\nSought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him\, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.\n\n\n\nHaving had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps\, we tried to carry this message to addicts\, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
