A Holy Waste of Time: Retreat for 20s and 30s

Fri, August 18, 2023 at 5:00 pm Sun, August 20, 2023 at 1:30 pm PDT

A Holy Waste of Time at St. Andrew's House

Adults in their 20s and 30s from around the Diocese of Olympia are invited to A Holy Waste of Time. It is our annual weekend of fun, friendship, faith, and blessed time-wasting. It is at St. Andrew’s House, a comfortable, rustic lodge situated on the Hood Canal with the Olympic Mountains just beyond.

Feel free to choose your own adventure:

  • Kayak, paddleboard, or swim the beautiful, calm waters of Puget Sound.
  • Take a hike on the forest trails nearby.
  • Simply read at the lodge or sun on the deck.

We’ll also offer some optional activities: yoga, music, arts ‘n’ crafts, and more.

Each evening we’ll close with prayer and song. On Sunday morning we’ll celebrate a very casual Eucharist together.

Creative home-style cooking is a St. Andrew’s House tradition. Meals include nurturing entrees of locally-sourced foods and delicious fresh desserts. Any dietary restrictions can be accommodated.

The per-person price for A Holy Waste of Time includes two night’s lodging and all meals and activities. A small number of single bedrooms are available. Many are shared bedrooms with private bath. You can indicate your preference. The price for this option is $95/person on or before July 31. The price goes to $110/person after July 31.

There is another option for A Holy Waste of Time. We have space for tent camping! $50/person includes campsite, all meals, activities, and full access to bathrooms and showers. You bring the tent and be responsible for setting it up and taking it down. The price is $50/person for tent camping.

Scholarships are available. Contact Valerie Reinke at vreinke@ecww.org for any questions, including scholarship requests.

  • Pray together
  • Reconcile together
  • Share peace and thanksgiving together
  • Gain strength and renewal through Eucharist
  • Prepare ourselves to minister to the world.
The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer: Worshiping God, living in community, reaching out to the world.

Church of the Redeemer

Church of the Redeemer: Worshiping God, living in community, and reaching out to the world around us. We are an Episcopal Church serving north King County and south Snohomish County, Washington. As you travel your road, go with friends walking the way of Jesus at Redeemer.

Church of the Redeemer is at 6210 Northeast 181st Street in Kenmore, Washington. The campus is a short distance north of Bothell Way, near the Burke-Gilman Trail. The entrance looks like a gravel driveway. The campus is larger on the inside than it is on the outside. And we managed to hide a large building on the side of a hill that is not easily seen from the street.

The Episcopal Church welcomes you.
