    Parish Workparty, September 16, 2023

Do you enjoy gardening? Do you enjoy working with your hands? Do you feel the need to touch some grass? Do you want to be with friends, old or new? Come to our next Parish Workparty on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

    This Saturday’s workparty tasks

We start with Morning Prayer at 9:30 am. After that, we enjoy some treats, usually around 10:00 am. Then, we will divide up to work on these and other tasks:

    • Do general cleaning. This can be something as simple as dusting and vacuuming. A building this size always has something that could use a little care.
    • Prepare for Sunday worship. It might as simple as making sure hymnals and Prayer Books are equally distributed. Sometimes something has to be moved.
    • Repair the Parish Hall window wall. This ongoing project is to fix damage to the wood window frames. This Saturday we will install new wood trim. You do not need special skills or previous experience.
    • Weed and trim the entrance garden. This area and other areas around the campus can use some tender loving care. One specific task this time will be for us to dig up seedlings, pot them, and/or replant around parking areas.
    • Clean the Parish Hall floor. Usually this means someone runs a dry mop over it to remove food crumbs and dirt. Sometimes someone needs to wet mop the floor.
    • Clean the parking lot drains. We need to clean the drains to be ready for winter rain.

    Work with others

There will always be someone to show you what to do and how to do it. No one is asked to do anything they cannot do.

Feel free to bring gardening and small maintenance tools to help with minor repairs. While we have some at the church, but could always use more. Yes, apartment dwellers probably won’t have these things. However, over the years we have gathered our odd collection.

There is no need to sign up. You only need to show up for as long as you can on September 16. In general, most people are finished around 12:00 noon.

Did we mention that treats are provided?
